Please accept my sincerest apologies. This mix tape should have been posted last week, but events conspired to delay its publication. First, my work computer crashed. No big deal, right? Wrong! As a result I needed to use my personal computer (AKA my laptop, AKA “Lappy”) for work purposes all week, which meant I was without a computer to use in my free time at home. Then that laptop died (Requiescat In Pace, Lappy), and I had to order a new one. Guess what? Even though the old computer was backed up using Time Machine recently, I haven’t been able to get my version of Photoshop to work on my new laptop (AKA “Lappy Squared”) so I am without the means to provide artwork for these posts. There were other problems with setting up the new computer, but considering I’m a 42-year-old former Computer Science major, I don’t want to embarrass myself with how old this experience has made me feel.
I hate to say this in such a public forum, but if anyone reading this knows where the kids these days…you know…”find” working software online without having to…you know…”pay” for it, by all means let me know.
All of this is to say, I missed the papal conclave! Da new pope is a-coming! As a person born of Jewish descent I can’t say this matters much to me. But I’ve been listening to a lot of progressive rock lately (especially albums of the Italian persuasion) so I felt inspired to make a prog-heavy soundtrack specifically for the conclave. Conclave. Do you capitalize conclave? If I’m going to position myself as a journalist I suppose I should look this up before I click the “publish” button.
